EXCEED Investigator Development Core

The goal of the Investigator Development Core is to develop new investigators, particularly minority investigators, with an interest in research to reduce disparities in minority health. This core is also to provide general development to the PPG investigators, increasing their expertise in minority health research. We believe that the development of African American health services researchers is so important, that there should be a special focus on investigator development.

This Core provides a vehicle for mentors to meet and improve their skills, provides an identified resource to the Pilot Investigators that bridges all projects, and strengthens the overall project as a whole. The Core also provides a focus for the new researchers to learn from each other as they interact within this Core. The Pilot Projects themselves are treated as any other project within the Program Project and as such the pilot investigators will also benefit from the collective interactions that will take place across all projects. Thus the Pilot Investigators will be as integrated into the Program Project as any Project Director is integrated. The Biostatistics and Data Core is also a separate entity to allow clear identification of the cross-project resources available to all Program Project investigators including the pilot investigators.
